A day of self-evaluation

A day is about gone
What did you need to appreciate the sunlight you enjoyed so fully?
An evening is about here
What do you need to prepare for the long lightless time that locks you up in the darkness?

(2) I know the sun must go as her term is due
I know too that I am powerless against the cosmic order
But, somehow, I just feel,
Feel things should not be this way…

Watching the magnificent evening glow stretching over on the sky, embracing the sun
I am deeply touched
And find myself in an instant
Bounced back to the first day of my first love
The gorgeous pigment of the afterglow reminds me of
Her beautiful skirt fluttering in the wind the day I met her for the first time in this life
The intensity of the complexion bursting across the sky in front of me
Prompting the heart melting moment
When she was trying to express her deep feelings at the airport in New Delhi
Where we were about to disappear from each other’s sight for the first time!

Now I am here
Not that far from kicking the bucket
If I can’t look honestly at how I lived this day
I surely can’t leave this most precious human life without something
that could pave the path that leads me to a world
Where sunlight radiates freely during the day
And human intelligence illuminates the long lightless evening!

Looking down at this body with this body
The one that I have employed for more than fifty years,
I am content
I proudly proclaim that
I am good and I am done
However, when look at my very existence
From the mind-body that I possess innately
I know my journey of altruism is just about to begin
The peace, power and bliss that benefits others has not even dawned yet!

Oh, you perfectly Enlightened Ones,
Please be my guardians
Be my captain and be my lighthouse
I want to escape the dreadful Samsaric ocean
With the lamp of virtues that you ignited in my heart
I want to repay the kindness of all
With Karuna - the unsurpassed supreme power
Taught and exemplified by you!

May all beings be forever free of the dreadful ocean of samsara
and attain immortality for the sake of all beings!
